Interesting...But simply a start.

Ok, so in the past evening I was trying to determine what I ought to use as my pop-culture artifact. For a while I wasn't really sure what exactly sparked my interest (I have some pretty darned "out there" fascinations) anyway, I am an admitted Knight Rider junkie and had seen the film 2001: a Space Odyssey. (Yes, three hours of my life I will never get back! =P) and not surprisingly, the film "Lost In Space" snagged my interest! Finally, upon walking away from the film halfway through, (it was late...) I thought I would check into society's views on Artificial Intelligence.
In society today, it seems that computers have become a near absolute necessity for life to run as planned. They are programed to do almost everything for us, schedule our day, make our coffee...flush the toilet...but for many, these are the things of ordinary life, merely made easier by the existence of computers. In that scenario, they do what they were only programed to do. They don't question, they don't reason; they don't ask questions. All we can expect from these machines is programmed obedience. However, Artificial Intelligence is different in that the computer is able to learn and interact with the outside world. I still have to look into what questions I plan to answer in the upcoming papers that are to follow this one.

Wow...First Day, First Blog!

I have never used a blogging network before! Right now I'm still trying to figure out what to make of it...Something like that could take time. University life, as well, is so different from what I'm used to. A large campus with classes scheduled on differing sides of the place...I guess its just a matter of time before I finally find my feet!
