The Fantasy of...Death?

I have been thinking about this topic a little, as of late. My brother and I watch alot of shows that focus on solving crime/murder or curing a deathly illness. It seems morbid, I know, however, I think its interesting that in tv shows today, especially medical dramas and police/crime dramas there is a good deal of focus on the dead looking "realistic". Although, Im sure plenty of research and thought goes into the scenes that are created, there still is something to be said. Let's face it, who "looks good" dying, getting sick, or dying? Shows like HOUSE, M.D. and the CSI shows are very well known for the plot lines that would make someone from an earlier age blanch and faint at the sight of such "carnage." It is definately something worth thinking about.
